LightFair 2022 show organizers and the Illuminating Engineering Society and International Association of Lighting Designers announced 14 LightFair Innovation Awards winners; bestowed additional recognition upon select products for Most Innovative Product of 2022, Technical Innovation, and Design Excellence; and awarded a Judges’ Citation to one product that was not a category winner. The jury evaluated the submissions on adaptability, sustainability, ease of use, design efficiency, versatility, clarity of purpose, and aspects that enhance safety or wellbeing. Most Innovative Product of the Year
Indoor Decorative winner — The MIFOR 70 Lighting System by Klus allows architects and designers to realize custom, suspension-mounted luminaire shapes and configurations. Create linear, planar, and openwork lighting compositions, connected into runs, to flexibly adapt to interior architectural features. View specifications for shapes, such as width and bend radius; connector recommendations; and additional guidance on designing bespoke fixtures on the Klus website.
Technical Innovation
Control Components & Hardware winner — McWong International’s TruBlu Bluetooth mesh fixture controller uses a long-range antenna to extend lighting control range to 900 ft in outdoor lighting networks, reducing the need for hardwiring to achieve stable connectivity. Backed by DesignLights Consortium QPL inclusion, the device brings continuous dimming and zone- and luminaire-level control to outdoor lighting.
Design Excellence
Commercial Indoor: Troffers, Suspended & Surface Mounted winner — Edison Price Easy-Link modular, linear lighting leverages quick connectors in in-line, T, X, and U form factors to simplify installation for a variety of lighting configurations. Baffles are available in honeycomb or louver options for visual comfort with the 2900-lm output capability per 4-ft section. Fixtures may be suspended or mounted on walls, ceilings, table surfaces, or floors.
Judges’ Citation
Gripple’s CombiCable received special recognition at the judges’ discretion for its ability to ease installation and improve safety. The combined power and suspension hardware eliminates additional ties for securing aircraft cable to power cords when installing pendant fixtures. CombiCable is preassembled, can be height adjusted via rip cord, and installs into a 7/8-in. knockout with direct connection to a conduit box.
Control-Enabling Technology, Connectivity & Software
Keystone’s SmartLoop screw-in controller uses SmartPort technology to speed up commissioning of high-bays and other luminaires, and can be adjusted via the SmartLoop mobile app. Wireless lighting control is provided quickly, with integrated daylight and passive-infrared motion detection as well as scheduling capability via the app.
Non-Luminous: Research, Publications, Software & Specialty Hardware
Labarazzi by Viso Systems Aps is a transient lighting artifact generator designed to assess and demonstrate flicker with meters or imaging devices. Users can select from the 26 preset flicker signals or customize their own with waveform, frequency, depth, and duty cycle parameters.
Ballasts, Transformers, Drivers, Systems & Kits
Keystone Technologies’ SmartSafe emergency backup for low temperatures operates down to -20°C/-4°F. With its built-in heater, the backup power supply drives 12W LED loads for a minimum of 90 minutes and fits into 1/2-in. knockouts. The emergency driver protects systems against open loads and short circuit overloading in harsh locations such as cold storage facilities and warehouses.
Dynamic Color, Theatrical, Cove, Strips & Tape
TruCirque by PureEdge Lighting utilizes an RGB strip and tunable-white strip to produce color effects and white illumination from 6500K down to 2700K CCT and dim-to-warm capability, with 95+ CRI LEDs. The glare-free, circular lighting system blends seamlessly into architecture, with field-cuttable extrusions, LED strips, and lenses to accommodate a range of size and configuration needs.

Ams Osram’s BrightStar-recognized OSLON Square Batwing gains additional honors with its improved light uniformity in greenhouse growing applications. Primary optics increase horticultural lighting efficiency and simplify lighting designs with fewer fixtures required and no hotspots on the plants under illumination.
Industrial, Germicidal, Vandal, Emergency & Exit
Pure Lighting’s Hybrid architectural cylindrical downlight incorporates a replaceable UV-C LED module for upper-air germicidal treatment and white-light illumination in locations where noise suppression, minimal light leakage, and unobtrusive fixtures are required. The downlight offers lumen output, beam angle, and CCT options as well as DMX and 0–10V dimming control.
Lamps – Conventional, Retrofit & Replacement
LED Smart’s LED PAR56 high-intensity, ultranarrow-beam lamp uses only 25W of power and achieves up to 30,000 hours lifetime. The 4° beam angle, high-output lamp is ruggedized with high-impact tempered glass and a single-piece aluminum housing for thermal management in extreme outdoor, industrial, and transportation applications.
Track, Display, Undercabinet & Shelf
Hevi Lite equips its Aileron Track pendant with two to six adjustable heads offering 1200-lm LED output in 2700K, 3000K, and 4000K CCTs. Anp Lighting’s SiteLine post-top luminaire clamps with a patent-pending mechanism to create a seamless look while mounting multiple fixtures at varying heights or radius locations on a single pole. With integrated occupancy and photo sensors, the luminaires feature either edge-lit LED panels or performance optics packages; 4,500- to 20,000-lm output ranges; multiple distribution types; and several CCT options.
