MOCVD crystal growth scientist
Sharp is actively developing products and technologies which will contribute to the environment through energy saving and energy creation. In support of this goal, Sharp Laboratories of Europe is expanding its semiconductor LED research program supporting the company’s objective to develop next generation high efficiency light sources.

We are looking to recruit a talented MOCVD crystal growth scientist in the optoelectronic devices field. A prime output of the group is new technologies, patents, concept demonstrators and technology transfer for Sharp Corporation’s future lighting products. Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Technical leadership of research in novel epitaxy processes
  • Responsibility for MOCVD reactor including hardware maintenance and development
  • Generation of novel IP
The successful candidate will work in a highly multidisciplinary group of engineers and scientists engaged in research and development in the field of Solid-state lighting. Successful candidates will have:

  • Expert understanding of epitaxial MOCVD growth and device physics
  • Hands on experience of MOCVD system operation and maintenance
  • Proven project planning and organizational skills
Applicants should have strong academic qualifications with ideally an MSc or PhD in Materials Science, Physics or related discipline. A track record of quality and innovation in MOCVD research, particularly III-Nitrides epitaxy, as evidenced by significant publications, patents or other achievements, is also required.

Applicants will be required to provide evidence of their eligibility to work in the UK.
