Visiopia uses PerkinElmer LEDs for Mazda concept car
27 Jan 2006
PerkinElmer's ACULED has been selected by Visopia for lighting design-in for Mazda’s Kabura concept car
Visopia, a Los Angeles-based advanced lighting design company, has used PerkinElmer's ACULED™ (All Color Ultrabright LEDs) as part of a high-power lighting system for Mazda's Kabura 2006 concept car.

Visopia incorporated ACULED's multi chip-on-board (COB) design to create a five-element headlamp, including high beams, low beams, accent lights, turn signals and fog lamps, as well as side mirror turn-indicator lights in this concept car.

"Mazda and Visopia created a very innovative and technically challenging lighting concept for the low-beams that not only enhanced the Mazda prototype's versatility and safety, but also made the car exciting to drive and look at," said Carlo Quiñónez, lighting designer for Visopia.

"The decision to use PerkinElmer's ACULED was simple - it was the only product that combined the power, color and size qualities we needed."

Visopia's ACULED-based design for Mazda's Kabura 2006 concept car was unveiled for the first time at The 2006 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) held January 8-22 at the Cobo Conference/Exhibition Center in Detroit, Michigan.

Ronny Bagdadi, another partner at Visopia continued: "The ACULED allows us to meet the expectations of designers at Mazda and other automotive companies that demand precise white point selection and an infinite palette of color lighting to help create the perfect balance of ambience and functional lighting."

Using PerkinElmer's compact ACULED design, Visopia says that it is now able to meet high levels of brightness, color fidelity and lamp lifetime requirements, all needed to exceed manufacturer expectations in the automotive market.

“We are extremely pleased that designers such as Visopia are selecting PerkinElmer's LED solutions for their high profile, new automobile introductions," said John Roush, President, PerkinElmer Optoelectronics.
