Philips and Lemnis sign LED patent license agreement
10 Nov 2010
LED lamp maker Lemnis Lighting has joined Philips’ licensing program for solid-state lighting.
Lighting manufacturer Philips and LED lamp specialist Lemnis Lighting have signed a license agreement giving Lemnis access to Philips’ large portfolio of patents related to LED systems and controls.

Lemnis has joined Philips’ licensing program for LED-based luminaires and retrofit bulbs. At the same time Philips has obtained access to the LED-lamp architecture and control patents of Lemnis. No financial details of the LED patent agreement were disclosed.

“Philips believes that sharing its LED lighting solutions through licensing will accelerate the adoption of LED lighting and foster the growth of the LED industry. Our wide-ranging innovations are reflected in our large patent portfolio that we offer to others,” said Frank Bistervels, Senior Director Licensing at Philips Intellectual Property & Standards.

Lemnis Lighting BV, a subsidiary of Tendris Holding, manufactures sustainable lighting solutions based on LED technology, such as the Pharox LED lamp.

“This agreement provides additional reinforcement to our customers to continue to grow their business of LED lamps and luminaires and is a further important step towards Lemnis’ main goal of fast adoption of LED lighting solutions in mass markets,” said Martijn Dekker, Chief Technology Officer of Lemnis Lighting.
