Toshiba introduces new LED luminaires for street and industrial lighting
16 Oct 2012
Toshiba has announced the release of two new LED luminaires for street and industrial lighting, the TGT LED Luminaire and the TSL LED Luminaire.

In an effort to improve on current LED street and industrial light offerings, Toshiba International has released two new LED luminaires for use in roadway and industrial applications, the Toshiba TGT LED Luminaire for street lighting and the Toshiba TSL LED Luminaire for industrial applications. Toshiba designed these luminaires to optimize longevity and reliability, which leads to lower maintenance costs than conventional luminaires.

"Our focus is on maximizing the benefits of LED technology to meet the market's demands for more energy-efficient and low-maintenance products," said Peter DallePezze, Vice President of Marketing and Product Development, Toshiba International Corporation LED Lighting Systems Division. "These luminaires are fine examples of how we are working to design products to make the most our extensive LED expertise."

The Toshiba TGT LED Luminaire for roadways includes on-board lighting controls. The luminaire offers an LED array with an expected life of 100,000 hours, or 20 years based on 12 hours per day, with on-board photocells that are rated for a 15-year life. The long operational life of the on-board photocells is provided by a set of four redundant photocells. In the event one or more photocells fail to operate the remaining photocells will continue to provide normal operation of the luminaire.

The majority of conventional luminaires and other LED roadway luminaires on the market utilize a NEMA twist-lock photocell, which can cause issues with reliability. The Toshbia-designed TGT LED Luminaire features on-board lighting controls, eliminating the need for the NEMA twist-lock receptacle. These lighting controls also enable automatic dimming. Sensors embedded in the product provide dawn to dusk dimming for additional energy savings.

The Toshiba TGT luminaire mounts to a 1.25”-3” O.D. round pole using a standard pole mounting kit.

The Toshiba TGT LED Luminaire has a separated power supply and finned LED heat sink for thermal management. Available in 24 to 72 LEDs and 4100K or 6000K color temperatures, the Toshiba TGT LED Luminaire includes advanced optics and delivers uniform light distribution, which enable lower lumen output while maintaining the Illuminating Engineering Society's (IES) recommended light levels.

In addition to the roadway luminaire, Toshiba has introduced an LED luminaire for industrial applications, such as high-bay, low-bay, canopy or garage lighting. Available in multiple mounting options, including bracket, chain/cable, hook, and pendant mounting, the Toshiba TSL LED Luminaire is available with a range of outputs, providing the ability to specify the light required for an application. The precision-molded, high-impact, optical-grade polymethyl methacrylate lens provides uniform standard and wide distribution. The Toshiba TSL LED Luminaire is designed to provide flexibility in a variety of applications.
