Welcome to LEDs Magazine’s Focus On LEDs in Lighting newsletter for May 25, 2023. We’ve been spending time on the LightFair show floor this week, and many of our conversations have revolved around the emergence of products designed with sustainability considerations in mind. More and more we’re seeing recycled materials making their way into finished products, materials are being revamped for reuse, and developers are building in modularity for both customization and upgradeability. It’s exciting to see the industry finding ways to reduce waste and materials demands while addressing end of product life. Even with the question of what to do with nonrecyclable materials, I have no doubt there are great minds working on a solution. Look forward to our June issue where contributor Mark Halper will provide an overview of remanufacturing for SSL products.
