Midland RockHounds add Daktronics LED displays for upcoming baseball season

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Baseball games in Midland, Texas, are receiving an upgrade as Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, was selected to provide LED video upgrades to Security Bank Ballpark for the Midland RockHounds. The new main video display and additional scoreboards will be installed prior to the start of the 2015 season. “We are excited to partner with Daktronics on our new baseball video board,” said RockHounds General Manager Monty Hoppel. “The board will be over two and a half times as large as the old board and the layout is first class.” The main video display will measure approximately 21.5 feet high by 34.5 feet wide and will feature a 15HD pixel layout for crisp, clear imagery. The wide angle visibility will appeal to every seat in the ballpark. The display features variable content zoning which allows it to show one large image across the entire display or it can also be separated into multiple zones to show any combination of scoring information and statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsor messages. “Daktronics has done a great job in helping us get the best price and we still believe we are getting outstanding quality,” added Hoppel. “Fans will be really surprised at the color and size of the board. It surely will enhance our game entertainment and our community will talk about the board for years to come.” Two custom outdoor scoreboards will also be installed, one on each side of the main display.
