Evluma announces DLC qualification of new AreaMax outdoor LED area light

Quality standards organization lists improved AreaMax™ with integrated photocontrol option and sleeker, lighter, anti-corrosion housing.
Renton, WA – LED lighting manufacturer Evluma announces that the DesignLights Consortium® (DLC) has listed its upgraded AreaMax outdoor area security light product. The recent upgrades include integrated photocontrol and anti-corrosion coastal materials options, and a new sleeker, lighter housing that increases the product’s overall architectural appeal and ease of installation.
“DLC certification is the nationally recognized gold standard for outdoor lighting products,” said Keith Miller, CEO of Evluma. “Many utilities, both large and small, require that products deployed in their networks be listed on the DLC Qualified Products List (QPL).”
In order to be listed by the DLC, luminaires are tested according to light output in lumens, wattage, efficacy (lumens/watt - a measure of how efficient the source is in converting electricity to light), CRI (color rendering index – a measure of how a light source can accurately reflect the true colors of an object), and CCT (color temperature – a measure of how the color looks to the eye). Thermal stress testing results are also submitted for DLC qualification. By reviewing the numbers for a particular lighting product, and comparing products (which is possible via the DLC website www.designlights.org), customers can make an informed choice as to which luminaires will serve their needs from a technical perspective.
About Evluma
Formed in 2008, Evluma is committed to developing affordable, long-lasting and environmentally low impact LED lighting solutions that fundamentally change the landscape of the outdoor utility lighting market. Because of the initial market success of AreaMax, Evluma moved in July, 2014 to a new lean manufacturing facility in Renton, Wash., increasing the company’s production capacity fivefold. Lean methodologies enable Evluma to deliver larger volumes of high quality products with shorter lead times.
AreaMax is a recognized winner of the 2013 NGL Outdoor Solid-State Lighting Design Competition in the Local Residential Roadway Category.
About the DLC
The DesignLights Consortium® (DLC) is a project of Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP), a regional non-profit founded in 1996 whose mission is to serve the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic to accelerate energy efficiency in the building sector through public policy, program strategies and education. The DLC promotes quality, performance and energy efficient commercial sector lighting solutions through collaboration among its federal, regional, state, utility, and energy efficiency program members; luminaire manufacturers; lighting designers and other industry stakeholders throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Over its 14 year history the DLC program has driven the lighting market towards innovation by providing information, education, tools and technical expertise for cutting edge technologies. Since 2010, the DLC has administered the Qualified Products List (QPL), a leading resource that distinguishes quality, high efficiency LED products for the commercial sector. Today, the QPL sets the bar for efficiency program incentives across the U.S. and Canada while informing manufacturer product development.
