Harvard appoints new manager to build on sustained growth

Date Announced: 23 Jun 2011 Harvard, a leading player in the LED and wireless street lighting industries, has recently appointed a new business development manager to its growing sales team, John Charles.John has over 27 years experience working on local authority lighting and communications systems. He has also been responsible for implementing a number of international lighting design projects in the US, South Africa and Australia, as well as the Channel Tunnel Rail Link and Terminal 5 in the UK. John has gained a thorough understanding of a wide range of lighting applications, including tunnels and high mast installations, and has worked as joint venture manufacturer project manager with Network Rail, BAA and the Highways Agency on several projects, using innovating lighting techniques including Optical Fibre, LED and HID augmented with dimming and control systems.Working as a senior member of the external sales team John’s role will involve identifying and developing new business opportunities, and securing new contracts for Harvard’s innovative LeafNut street lighting solution from both local authorities and commercial users. The opening of the new premises, which strengthens our extensive UK based research, development and manufacturing facilities, will allow us to proactively develop solutions for UK and global customers.”John’s appointment reflects Harvard’s significant growth over the past two years, increasing employee numbers from 130 to 210. Due to the expanding LED market, Harvard’s LED driver solutions are in great demand. The company’s revolutionary wireless remote street lighting solution, LeafNut, is also very much sought-after with local authorities across the world deploying the system.
