Color Kinetics adds five OEM and licensing partners in third quarter

Sept. 22, 2004
Five agreements signed during the current quarter bring Color Kinetics' total number of active OEM and Licensing partners to 31.

Color Kinetics has announced further traction of its OEM and Licensing business with five agreements signed in the third quarter of 2004 to date. The company now has 31 active partners across a diverse range of lighting market segments.

The newly signed OEM and Licensing partners are:

  • CityLight, a Turkish architectural lighting firm
  • City Theatrical, Inc., a lighting accessories manufacturer
  • Next Generation Lighting, LLC, a new developer of custom solid- state lighting solutions
  • Orange22, a furniture manufacturer
  • Spectrum Manufacturing, a manufacturer of entertainment and event lighting products

"Color Kinetics supports the widespread adoption of intelligent solid-state lighting through an open and active OEM and Licensing program, and we're pleased to help these companies go to market quickly and easily with value-added offerings based on proven technology," said Bill Sims, president and COO of Color Kinetics.

"By extending our core expertise, technologies and complete system approach to third parties, we're creating more choice in the marketplace while maximizing the return on our investment in innovation."

The licensing arrangements are already bearing fruit. The Chroma-Q Color Block DB4 from Spectrum Manufacturing was recently launched at the PLASA show in London by Spectrum's parent company AC Lighting.

"Through our agreement with Color Kinetics," said Gary Fails, president of City Theatrical, "we have developed a specialized power/data solution that effectively meets the most rigorous demands of entertainment and event lighting applications - combining Color Kinetics' industry-proven technology with our market expertise."

Color Kinetics forms OEM and Licensing relationships with manufacturers who recognize the value and increasingly prevalent role of intelligent solid-state lighting technology, both within and beyond the core lighting industry.

Companies align with Color Kinetics in a number of ways, including the purchase of Digital Light Engines for turnkey integration into their own product lines, and by licensing the company's core technologies and corresponding intellectual property.

Existing OEM and Licensing partners include Altman Lighting, Balboa Instruments, B/E Aerospace, Hayward Pool Products, The Holmes Group, HoMedics, Main Light Industries, Tireflys and Zumtobel Staff Lighting, among others.
