Applelec lights world, Daktronics chosen by Bisons
Applelec Sign Components has supplied LEDs from Permlight for a London-based company, The Sign Works, to literally, light up the world.
The world map is made up of curved, powder-coated stainless-steel panels to custom-fit the recess. The continents are also curved and in 4mm magnetic satin stainless steel.
To compliment the steel, 225 Permlight Twister Red LEDs were fitted to provide the bold red halo effect by day. Overall the map is 3.2 meters wide by 2.1 meters high.
Gary De-Freitas of The Sign Works said: "Permlight Twister Red LEDs were chosen to reflect the red in the corporate identity of the client's logo. Despite some insistence when everyone else suggested the obvious color should be blue, I have to admit that it works pretty well!"
Ian Drinkwater, sales director of Applelec Sign Components commented: "Once again this highlights the versatility of the Twister LEDs to provide lighting effects for a variety of different sign projects."
