Earlier this month, Alfa Chemistry Materials announces the offering of photochromic materials, a material characterized by its optical properties being able to change reversibly upon irradiation. In fact, this company, reputed for the supply of all kinds of materials, has previously launched a wide array of other functional materials such as charge transfer complexes, macrocycles, phthalonitriles & naphthalonitriles, pressure & heat sensitive recording materials, semiconducting materials, silane coupling agents, and UV absorbents.

Photochromic materials will change color after being excited by a light source. Due to their unique physical, chemical properties and abundant types, they have a broad range of applications in many types of devices, including optical switches, optical data storage devices, energy-conserving coatings, eye-protection glasses, and privacy shields.

“The major advantages of photochromic materials are erasable and rewritable capability, high resolution, and high sensitivity. At present, they are used most extensively in ophthalmic sunscreening applications. Also, various optics for 3D memories start to use photochromic materials and near-field recording for high-density memory purposes,” says one of the senior scientists from Alfa Chemistry Materials.

The positive photochromic materials and reverse photochromic materials provided by Alfa Chemistry Materials can be used for research in many fields such as architecture construction, optical information storage, anti-counterfeiting, biomedicine, etc.

About Alfa Chemistry Materials

As a sub-branch of Alfa Chemistry and focused on the supply of a wide array of materials, Alfa Chemistry Materials has now grown to be a reliable source for carbon nanotubes, fullerene (carbon spheres), graphene, high purity materials, MOFs and COFs compound, molecular sieve, quantum dots, etc. In addition to photochromic materials, many other light-driven functional materials that also have photo-switchable characteristics are been exploited for possible applications in ultrahigh-density optical data storage, molecular switches, logic gates, molecular wires, optic/electronic devices, sensors, bio-imaging and so on. Alfa Chemistry Materials is now also working to make all those materials readily obtainable for customers worldwide.
