These technologies include high performance LED backlight drivers, power supplies and controllers designed to simplify LCD panel backlighting designs, helping reduce panel thickness and lowering the overall solution cost.

    From simple drivers to advanced products with features that support local dimming and scanning functions, our LED drivers provide superior performance to improve image quality in panel sizes that range from five inches to more than 100 inches. The portfolio supports both white LED and RGB LED applications, and our future developments include drivers for lighting and additional automotive applications.

    Freescale's family of microcontrollers (MCUs) can be used for backlight control and are available with high precision RGB color control software. With a portfolio of 8-bit to 32-bit solutions, various topologies and panel sizes can be easily supported. The flexible system software in our MCU products allows you to implement the auto-calibration in each BLU unit, saving time and panel manufacturing costs. Since the software code in the various Freescale MCU products is highly reusable, you can seamlessly migrate to higher performing solutions when upgrading systems.
