Industry leaders such as Super Trend Lighting and Q L Light Source have already obtained licenses to the patents identified above. There is no other company that is licensed to all of the above-identified patents by press time.
In an effort to further develop and protect its proprietary technologies, Epistar has acquired additional patents to enhance its patent portfolio, including an exclusive license obtained from University of California, Santa Barbara, UCSB, U.S. for Patent No. 7,687,813 to Dr. Shuji Nakamura and Dr. Steven P. DenBaars entitled “Standing Transparent Mirrorless Light Emitting Diode.”
