Notre Dame Selects ANC to Install First Major Video Display at Notre Dame Stadium
The University of Notre Dame has partnered with ANC to install the first major video display system into the iconic Notre Dame Stadium.
“Tradition is the cornerstone Notre Dame football,” said Notre Dame Vice President and James E. Rohr Director of Athletics Jack Swarbrick. “The seamless integration of the video display system into Notre Dame Stadium will emphasize our tradition by highlighting our legacy through rich visuals, information, and statistics.”
The video display system is part of a nearly 800,000-square-foot construction project that has added new structures to the west, east, and south sides of Notre Dame Stadium, transforming it into a year-round venue. The video display system will be highlighted by the largest 10mm surface mount (SMD) display in college football, featuring the most physical pixels in an NCAA outdoor venue. The renovation project includes:
- One main 10mm video display measuring 54.07’ high by 95.54’ wide with more than 4.7 million physical pixels.
- Two sideline 16mm SMD LED ribbons, each measuring 3.78’ high by 393.07’ wide.
- One 2.5mm LED display in the North Side Schivarelli Lounge measuring 6.30’ high by 11.02 wide.
- One 2.5mm LED display in the North Side Locker Room measuring 7.87’ high by 14.17’ wide.
- One 1.9mm LED display in the North Side Interview Room measuring 6.30’ high by 11.02’ wide.
- One 1.875mm LED display in the Rex and Alice A Martin Media Center measuring 7.8’ high by 12.6’ wide.
- One 2.5mm LED display in the Duncan Student Center measuring 11.02’ high by 22.05’ wide.
All of the displays will feature Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc.’s Diamond Vision System Division’s XL Series featuring Real Black® technology and will be seamlessly synchronized by ANC’s award-winning vSOFT™ operating system. By featuring physical pixels, the main video display will provide true high-definition visuals exceeding 1080p for video, statistics, and other event highlights.
Through a multi-year partnership, ANC will work with Notre Dame to operate the displays during live events, while assisting with content creation for the display system. Understanding the University’s historic legacy, ANC and Notre Dame will develop visuals which blend tradition with the capability to provide more information and entertainment.
“It is an honor to partner with the University of Notre Dame,” said Jerome Cifarelli, President & Chief Executive Officer, ANC. “Combining Notre Dame’s historic legacy with our innovative technology will create an even more memorable experience for students, fans and alumni at one of the most iconic stadiums in the world.”
ANC has a history of integrating technology into historic sports venues, with past displays being installed at the historic landmark Fenway Park and the 50-year old Dodger Stadium. Mitsubishi’s next generation technology can be found in venues across the United States, including the Chicago White Sox.
