Quick Chat: Safe and effective fixed UV-C installations fight pathogens
May 17, 2021
UL expert Adam Lilien talks with Maury Wright about the evolution of germicidal ultraviolet (GUV) technology for deactivating pathogens including SARS-CoV-2, and how facilities can safely implement such systems.
LEDs Magazine editor Maury Wright talks with Adam Lilien, global business development manager at UL, about the amazing potential of germicidal ultraviolet (UV) technology to fight pathogens including SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19 and about the safety implications of UV-C band radiation at wavelengths below 280 nm. UL has a standard covering installation of fixed UV-C systems for both surface and air disinfection and continues to work on expanding the scope of the organization’s UV-C efforts. Lilien explains the way UL works and details both the current standard and how new uses of UV-C technology can be safely delivered to society and that perform as anticipated in the germicidal role.
