Energy Insights is a new capability built within SimplySnap, the wireless lighting control solution from Synapse Wireless, that helps facility managers identify where the plant is wasting energy and enables them to develop a plan to optimize energy usage and lower operational costs. End-users in the manufacturing space can begin their energy-savings projects by adding SimplySnap controls to existing lights or installing SimplySnap-enabled LED luminaires. The light network then connects with Energy Insights hardware components to monitor energy use of other equipment in the facility.
Energy Insights contains unique features not found in other lighting control solutions. The energy-cost algorithm in SimplySnap Energy Insights uses the local utility rate structure to convert power consumed into the actual dollars it is costing the facility. The algorithm considers complex structures that have different rates depending on the month and time of day and also considers the cost of peak demand in each month. Measuring power data at a facility typically requires a large investment in wired solutions and expensive network equipment. While many lighting control systems provide energy monitoring data for the lights under control, no other system is aimed at the specific challenges found in manufacturing environments and designed to monitor existing equipment at an economical price point.
