Farnell will distribute the high-efficiency iDrive Lite LED driver range from IST.

IST, a UK-based manufacturer of LED drivers and light engines, has signed a European and Asian distribution agreement with Farnell, a distributor of electronic components, accessories and systems.

Farnell will stock IST’s iDrive Lite and soon-to-be-released iDrive 1000 driver. The iDrive Lite will be featured in Farnell’s European and Asian printed and online catalogues, and will be available for purchase directly from Farnell in the coming days. The iDrive 1000 will be launched in June and expected to be available from Farnell in August.

IST produces high efficiency LED drivers for the solid-state lighting sector based upon its considerable patent portfolio including unique energy-saving technologies enabling high power drivers to achieve in excess of 88% efficiency.

The iDrive Lite LED driver includes a cost effective DMX enabled driver incorporating full electronic and thermal management with a simple user interface, allowing users to plug-and-play straight from the box. The iDrive range enables integrators and fixture manufacturers to minimize time-to-market with high reliability drivers and increased functionality.

"We are delighted to add IST’s high power LED drivers and to our product portfolio," said Jonathan Wilson, Farnell Electronics Development Manager. "They are a perfect complement to our world-beating range of power LEDs targeted at Electronic Design Engineers, globally. We are certain that these products will be of considerable interest to customers seeking the benefits of top LED driver technology with leading in-class energy efficiency and functionality.”

Ideally suited for architectural, entertainment and industrial lighting applications, IST provides LED drivers and lighting solutions throughout the visible spectrum in single colour white, variable white and full colour changing RGB options.

The iDrive Lite can drive high power LED fixtures up to a maximum current of 350mA and fixtures with a total power requirement of 55 Watts. The iDrive 1000 will be a variable forward current driver with independent settings for all three channels of 500mA, 700mA and 1000mA.

Matt Fitzpatrick, IST’s Sales Director said "Having a strategic relationship with Farnell and being able to call upon their outstanding logistics and distribution skills will enable us to keep up with the significant demand seen for the iDrive range since its volume launch in March 2007."
