Whitney-Schulte identifies the committees and working groups in which DLC staff have participated in order to help bring to market best practices that are as close as possible to “products of consensus.”
That single thread is one of the most important factors in evolving the way forward for lighting product development and application. Standards development does not occur in a vacuum. Without input from a variety of lighting industry stakeholders on appropriate test methods, metrics, knowledge gaps, and technological limitations, standards could not provide a framework for minimum performance, interoperability, safe operation, durability, and sustainability.
