University of North Florida's Nevco LED video display system features 1.7 million pixels

GREENVILLE, IL – The University of North Florida Arena in Jacksonville, FL, home of the Ospreys, welcomed back Basketball fans in a new and exciting way this season with the recent installation of their custom Nevco LED Video Display and Scoring Solution.
The University worked with Nevco on the renovation of the Arena, which was opened in January 1993, to provide a whole new in-game atmosphere for fans. The main component and centerpiece of the Nevco equipment installed is a four-sided 6mm video display complete with over 345,000 pixels per side. University of North Florida is one of only a few universities in the country to have an indoor 6mm incorporated in their video display scoring solution. The center hung is complete with upper and lower 10mm LED Video rings adding an additional 300,000 pixels to the already eye-catching display. The 360 degree design, equaling 819 total square feet and complete with over 1,700,000 pixels, ensures that every fan in one of the 5,800 seats in the house sees the display clearly, while full, rich images excite the crowd like never before. Instant replay, live video, interactive player stats, and engaging sponsorship games enhance the game-day experience.

"Nevco is excited to partner with the University of North Florida on this exciting new video display upgrade for the UNF Arena," said Eric Light, Director of Sales – Large Venue Market. "This new display will provide fans unbelievable image quality while offering the UNF team great flexibility in how they promote their partners as well as adding to an already exciting game-day atmosphere."

The center-hung display will be accompanied by 40’ of new Nevco LED Scorers Tables lining the sidelines, two Nevco model 2700 auxiliary scoreboards with electronic team names, a set of Nevco’s new Slim Shot Clocks with game clock LED Display, End of Period lights, and locker room clocks.

The Scorers Tables and Video Display will be controlled using Nevco’s proprietary Display Director Software that will work in conjunction with the Osprey’s existing ESPN 3 production equipment in the arena. Nevco’s Display Director software allows UNF’s game-day operations to be easily managed through one, universal, touchscreen operating system. With a single touch, game operators can switch from displaying graphics that compliment key plays, show detailed player stats, and feature sponsorship games and advertising – converting all of the video display screens, including the Scorers Tables, at one time creating a singular, cohesive branding opportunity or dividing the screens and displaying different graphics at the same time.

Be sure to check out the Nevco website to plan your next scoring and video display upgrade.
