DANVILLE, Ill. – Owners of Watchfire digital billboards and on premise LED signs can download free widgets that allow marketers to integrate up-to-the-minute medal counts for the top five countries on their digital displays.
“The summer games are a period of great national pride for many countries, and we believe that these RSS feeds are a fun and engaging way to help our customers draw additional interest to their digital billboards and LED signs,” said Darrin Friskney, vice president at Watchfire Signs.
Watchfire digital billboard owners can download the free .dig file, which contains the data feed as well as artwork fitting the most common Watchfire billboard sizes. The file works exclusively with Watchfire Ignite OA, Watchfire’s proprietary content management software.
Watchfire on premise sign owners can download the RSS feed and EasyArt background file for free. Each user must create content that combines the background and the RSS feed, and can select which parts of the feed to use. Options include the top five countries and total medal counts for each, or the first ranked country and their gold, silver and bronze total medal counts, among others.
Key-Ads, Inc. was an early adopter of the medal widget. “I really do believe when the industry begins to harness the full capabilities of the digitals it will open up all types of new customers and account categories,” says Nick Keyes, vice president. “We are excited to work with Watchfire to launch this campaign and we hope every billboard operator in the country will do the same. It’s good for our communities and we need our prospective advertisers to see the great things digital outdoor can do.”
The medal widget campaign is the latest program from Watchfire designed to make it easy for Watchfire’s customers to implement dynamic campaigns on their digital billboards and on premise signs. The company has provided free templates for events like Mother’s Day, college commencements, shopping days until Christmas and others that allow operators and advertisers to take advantage of the unique dynamic capabilities that digital outdoor provides.
