Much as we do right before a corporate holiday and during big deadlines — 😃 — I’m collecting a few “housekeeping” announcements on today’s blog. I also recognize that many of you are looking ahead to going on summer holiday and who wants a heavy read today?!
First and foremost is an upcoming deadline regarding our virtual HortiCann Light + Tech Conference. The end of free registration is only days away. July 9 is the last chance to register for the entire two-day program for zero dollars. That includes leading-edge research on plant responses to light, including food, ornamental, and cannabis crops; studies on supplemental lighting versus natural sunlight only; total environmental control for crops in controlled environment agriculture (CEA); insights from experienced growers on using SSL in their operations; the greenrush of capital and how to leverage it; plus more. After July 9, registration for all of this will be $25 until Sept. 1. Don’t forget that these virtual events also come with an on-demand access period in case you miss any sessions or need to revisit some information.
Second, chief editor Maury Wright will be speaking with Helena Bian, CEO of AEC Lighting, and Angela Zhao, global marketing manager of Alibaba.com, in a webinar on Thursday, July 8. Now you might be thinking, “Isn’t Alibaba.com an online retailer? What does that have to do with lighting?” And that’s a very good question. The webinar is focused on e-commerce tools for B2B supply chains — such as lighting — and partner resources that can extend the reach of suppliers, to make those global connections with buyers and the quality lighting products they need, which can be difficult to obtain without the marketing and logistics capabilities of a large supply chain and distribution partner. The webinar, I’m told, is more of a conversational format. Register to join us live or attend when the event is available on demand.
Finally, many of you have likely already read our announcement breaking the news of the 2021 Sapphire Awards finalists. If you haven’t, check it out and congratulate your peers on their accomplishments during such a tumultuous past year. This year, we’ll be holding the Awards ceremony during the virtual Strategies in Light event on Aug. 24 (full event Aug. 24-25, 2021). Come one, come all! — because this year Strategies in Light online registration includes the opportunity to attend the live ceremony for no additional charge. Typically we would have function facility restrictions and limited attendance with the in-person event, but we can expand to a bigger crowd online for sure! We hope you will help our team celebrate the winners and of course participate in the excellent conference and networking opportunities offered during Strategies in Light. Look forward to our July/August magazine preview of the conference themes, trends the industry is following, and how the speakers will deliver actionable intelligence to move the LED and solid-state lighting design and supply chain forward.
