February 12, 2020 - The novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV), commonly referred to as coronavirus, is a new virus that causes respiratory illness in people and can spread from person to person. The current outbreak of coronavirus (2019-nCoV) was first identified in China but has now spread internationally. Sustained community spread is occurring in China. At this time, it is unclear how easily or sustainably this virus is spreading between people.
In an effort to contain the coronavirus, Chinese authorities have suspended air, road, and rail travel in the area around Wuhan and placed restrictions on travel and other activities throughout the country. Additionally, many other countries, airlines, and other logistics entities have modified, limited, in some instances, suspended activity to the area.
Due to these travel and logistics suspensions enacted by Chinese authorities, suppliers of Cooper Lighting Solutions products have extended the Chinese New Year holiday to ensure the safety of their employees. As a result, this delay in operations capabilities will drive an interruption in the supply chain for some of our products in the coming weeks. While we are doing what we can to minimize delays, the coronavirus outbreak and the disruption it has caused is a circumstance beyond our control. Consequently, delivery performance may be extended to account for the time lost due to the restrictions in place as a result of the coronavirus.
- We are working diligently with each of our suppliers to prioritize the production scheduling with the return of personnel to ensure that our customers are supported to the best of our ability.
- We will actively be managing any impacted products lines and offering substitutions where available.
- We are working closely with key suppliers and partners as this will impact logistics including container availability, driver availability, and port congestion.
- We will be increasing the capabilities of our North American manufacturing facilities with locally sourced materials and components.
