Focal Point's decorative acoustic pendant Eave™ combines performance and style
Chicago – May 2021 – With its new decorative acoustic pendant Eave, Focal Point provides specifiers the ability to make a statement in any space requiring an appealing luminaire with sound dampening properties. Eave’s unique shape enhanced by real wood accents, comfortable and powerful illumination, and host of lighting and control options make it a high-performance decorative luminaire to highlight key areas of commercial offices, healthcare and educational facilities, and hospitality venues.
“As we began the process of designing a new decorative acoustic pendant that delivered maximum performance and flexibility, the Focal Point team was inspired by the idea of combining our PET felt material with real wood accents” states Stephanie Goudreau, Director of Marketing. “Eave shines with its simple form factor accentuated by real wood veneer end caps and canopies which can easily coordinate with furniture pieces or architectural elements present in a space. Our customers have the ability to mix and match any acoustic material color with three wood tones and Eave can be specified in multiple sizes, accounting for the unique physical needs of each environment.”
Designed with an 11” height, Eave can be specified in 3’ (direct only), 4’, 5’, or 6’ lengths. The luminaire’s real wood end caps and canopies are made of rift sawn white oak and available in three colorations: White Oak, Amber Oak and Espresso Oak. Canopies are also available in White, Black or Titanium Silver painted finishes that will blend in the ceiling when a more discrete look is desired. The complete aesthetic is supported with power cord color options of Black, White, and Gray.
Eave offers lighting professionals the multiple options and superior performance they expect from Focal Point luminaires. Its powerful light engine delivers up to 800 indirect lumens per foot with the choice of Lambertian or wide batwing distribution and up to 700 direct lumens per foot direct with a Lambertian distribution. Direct and indirect illumination can be controlled independently for maximum flexibility and visual comfort. Multiple dimming options ensure compatibility with specified or existing control systems while the luminaire’s aircraft cable suspension with 5” shallow canopy accommodates multiple ceiling applications. Eave’s regressed lens and larger aperture soften the incident luminance and glare to help meet the requirements of Feature L04 of the WELL Building Standard™.
As with the rest of the Acoustic Solutions portfolio from Focal Point, Eave is also available in a vast selection of PET felt colors ranging from neutral to bold. This eco-friendly material is 100% recyclable with over 50% of its fibers derived from recycled plastic bottles. Its sound-absorbing properties make it ideal for environments with open plenums and hard surfaces. The acoustic performance of the system relies on the patent pending AirCore™ Technology which maximizes sound absorption, reduces ecological impact, and provides a lightweight structure for easy installation.
Eave offers specifiers a kaleidoscope of colors and design options and is an ideal companion to the Seem 1 Acoustic family of luminaires with a matching nominal baffle width and coordinated color palette. It is ideal for spaces where a standalone pendant is required, such as conference rooms, educational environments, and reception, teamwork or hospitality areas.
