Date Announced: 12 Aug 2011 Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada - LED Roadway Lighting Ltd (LRL) is pleased to announce that the City of Easthampton has selected LRL’s Satellite Series fixtures to replace their existing high pressure sodium fixtures. Installation of 469 fixtures is well underway, with Union Street, Main Street and a number of side streets already completed. Easthampton is the first municipality in western Massachusetts to embark on a large-scale LED street light retrofit program.The installation of 469 fixtures will provide annual savings in energy and maintenance of $36,700, or $734,000 over the 20 year design life of the fixtures. In terms of energy savings, it is expected that the new SAT-24S and SAT-48S fixtures will provide an annual energy savings of 192,000 kWh, or 3,844,000 kWh over the 20 year life of the fixtures.In addition to the energy and maintenance cost savings, it is expected that the installation will result in a greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction of 2,996 tonnes over the life of the fixtures.“This is an exciting project for us,” said Jeff Brassard, US Director of Business Development. “We are pleased to be working with a progressive municipality like Easthampton, and congratulate them on leading the move to LED street lighting in western Massachusetts.
