LEDs Magazine 40 Under 40 Profile: Andreas Kreuss
The technology industry is replete with success stories of very young entrepreneurs, going back at least to the founding of Hewlett-Packard in a Palo Alto, CA garage — the event widely considered as the birthplace of Silicon Valley. Andreas Kreuss got off to a very young start, surprising his parents by doing research on LED technology as a teen and founding LED Technics Germany at 18 in the basement of his parents’ home. He was driven, he said, by the realization that the world would need efficient and environmentally-friendly lighting long before German and European customers would recognize the need.
He traveled to China at the age of 20 to develop contract manufacturing and supplier relationships. Kreuss has said that early sales were a challenge even though the return on investment was easy to articulate based on energy savings and better light quality than that delivered by fluorescent technology.
The still young and growing enterprise managed by Kreuss has produced several notable products including the Soldus family of spotlights. Moreover, the company has a fluorescent tube retrofit line called Click2Fix. Kreuss has developed business relationships ranging from car dealerships to commercial airports to commercial businesses across Europe.
Carrie Meadows | Editor-in-Chief, LEDs Magazine
Carrie Meadows has more than 20 years of experience in the publishing and media industry. She worked with the PennWell Technology Group for more than 17 years, having been part of the editorial staff at Solid State Technology, Microlithography World, Lightwave, Portable Design, CleanRooms, Laser Focus World, and Vision Systems Design before the group was acquired by current parent company Endeavor Business Media.

She received a BA in English literature from Saint Anselm College, and earned thesis honors in the college's Geisel Library. Without the patience to sit down and write a book of her own, she has gladly undertaken the role of editor for the writings of friends and family.
Meadows enjoys living in the beautiful but sometimes unpredictable four seasons of the New England region, volunteering with an animal shelter, reading (of course), and walking with friends and extended "dog family" in her spare time.
