LEDs Magazine 40 Under 40 Profile: Andrew Smith (UPDATED)

July 24, 2020
Seoul Semiconductor's Andrew Smith brings an energy and entrepreneurial spirit to marketing the company's deep engineering expertise and approach to light quality.

The one trait that most of the LEDs Magazine 40 Under 40 Class shares is an entrepreneurial spirit. Marketing manager Andrew Smith certainly is an example of someone who relies upon such a trait today working for South Korea-based Seoul Semiconductor and indeed started an e-commerce venture backed by investors earlier in his career. He further worked as a consultant helping companies grow, educational institutions progress, and non-profits thrive through digital marketing. He also worked for a Fortune 500 company in marketing and product management roles for three years.

At Seoul, Smith has executed compelling marketing campaigns including the ongoing messaging for the SunLike LED technology that combines a reveal of major architectural changes in the LED with a new approach to quality of light and uniform spectral power distribution (SPD) across the human visual range.

Smith is an active participant in industry events across North and South America and attributes much of his success to the ability to connect with people. He earned an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Memphis.
